Ivan Yates To Host Checkout National FMCG Awards

Broadcaster and former government minister Ivan Yates has been announced as the host of the 2015 Checkout National FMCG Awards, which take place this Friday 9 October at the InterContinental Hotel, Dublin (formerly the Four Seasons Hotel).

The Checkout National FMCG Awards commemorate excellence in retail and FMCG marketing, with a total of 24 awards being presented on the day. A limited number of tickets are still available for the event, for more information, click here.

A renowned broadcaster and commentator, Yates was a Wexford TD for more than 20 years, serving on the Fine Gael front bench in the portfolios of Finance, Health, Environment, Agriculture and Transport.

He quit politics in 2001 to build Celtic Bookmakers, having first established the business in 1987. The business’ revenue peaked at almost €200 million in 2006/7, however declines in consumers’ personal income and indebtedness from acquisitions forced the business to enter receivership in 2011.

Following the closure of the business, Yates re-invented himself as a renowned commentator and presenter on Newstalk and TV3, as well as a host of corporate events.
