Mars has today (13 March) announced the appointment of Bill Heague as the general manager of its Mars Ireland business.
'Heague will lead a team of 90 Irish associates in bringing to the market some of Ireland’s most well-known brands across chocolate, confectionery, petcare and gum,' the company said in a statement.
Heague will focus on 'continuing to drive value for stakeholders in Ireland, whilst also playing a role in public policy initiatives for the industry'.
Although new to Ireland, Heague has reportedly been a member of the Mars team for over 10 years having previously led teams in both Mars Food Australia and the Mars Czech Republic and Slovakia.
“Having worked in diverse markets, I know I can bring a lot of value to our customers as well as a fresh approach to my colleagues. Initially, I want to focus on listening to the team, gaining from their insights and exploring the challenges and opportunities facing our industry at the moment,” said Heague.
He joins the global food industry leader's the Irish team directly from a market director position in the Czech Republic where he led the integration of the Mars and Wrigley businesses.
He added: “I’m particularly interested in ensuring the Mars Ireland business is taking its place on the international stage to ensure sustainability and healthy eating targets are met. I am confident that the future is bright for Mars in Ireland.”
