Meltdown Hot Sauce Launches In Lidl Stores

Meltdown Hot Sauce launches in Lidl stores across Ireland and Northern Ireland today as part of the supermarket’s Kickstart Supplier Development Programme.

Born from Dublin's café Meltdown, Hot Stuff is a tomato and habanero based hot sauce produced in Ireland.

The moreish hot sauce is rich, sweet, spicy and salty and heats up any dish from cheese toasties to eggs, soups, stews and even oysters, the discounter said.

It’s also a great dipping sauce for pizza, sausage rolls and anything else you want to add a little kick to, it added.

Popular With Customers

Created by Maeve O’Malley, founder of Meltdown, Hot Stuff started out as a 'key ingredient' for some of the café’s grilled cheese sandwiches.

According to Lidl the sauce proved popular with Meltdown customers and so O’Malley started to bottle it for the café tables.

With daily requests to purchase it, O’Malley said she decided to produce small batches of the sauce.

Soon O’Malley began selling the low fat, plant-based hot sauce to stores around the country.

We’re so excited to be launching into Lidl stores across Ireland and Northern Ireland," O’Malley said. "As a small business it’s a great initiative to help us get in front of thousands of customers who may not know about Meltdown or Hot Stuff."

"I have put a lot of time and effort into getting the recipe just right and I can’t wait for people all over the country to have the chance to try it,” she added.

Meltdown Hot Stuff is priced at €3.79 and is available from Lidl stores across Ireland and Northern Ireland while stocks last.
