Illinois-based drinks giant Beam Inc has hired nine Irish graduates to promote its Irish Whiskey portfolio of brands including Kilbeggan, Greenore, Tyrconnell and Connemara in the U.S.
The graduates, the second group to be appointed by Beam, have joined the company through the IBEC Export Orientation Programme (EOP), and are currently undertaking a 10-day induction course at the Kilbeggan Institute of Irish Whiskey Excellence at the Kilbeggan Distillery in Co Westmeath.
Each of the graduates will be located in a different US city identified as a target market for Beam: New York, Chicago, Boston, Austin, Dallas, Indianapolis, New Jersey and Philadelphia.
“The EOP programmes gives us access to ambitious and talented young Irish graduates," said Beam’s Irish Whiskey global brand ambassador, John Cashman.
"In 2012, our EOP Ambassador programme was incredibly successful in delivering tangible business results in a number of key US cities. As a result of this success, we have increased the number of graduates for 2013, and there is potential to add additional graduates later in the year.”
