Diageo-owned rum brand Captain Morgan challenged New York celebrity voice coach, Richard Fink IV, to beat the existing Guinness World Record for the longest continuous vocal scream.
The record-breaking attempt took place on Grafton Street, Dublin on the eve of 'International Talk Like A Pirate Day', which takes place today.
With the support of Captain Morgan, and a choir of 'Morganettes', Fink surpassed the existing record off 25 seconds, lasting a total of 39.84 seconds and setting a new world record.
This was no easy feat, as official guidelines state that ‘the scream must be held continuously at 80 decibels or over for the duration of the record attempt’, which is the equivalent of a DART commuter train passing by at a distance of 20 metres away.
Speaking of his achievement, Fink said "I am very excited to be a special guest and honorary crew member of Captain Morgan in Dublin and to have officially generated the most epic AAAARRRGH in recorded history."
The team at SoundTraining.com in Temple Bar, Dublin facilitated the official Guinness World Record, full footage of which can be seen on the Captain Morgan Facebook page.
