C&C Group Appoints Jamie Avenell As Wine Trading Director

Drinks distributor C&C Group has appointed Jamie Avenell as its new wine trading director, it was announced today.

Avenell will be taking over the role from Harriet Kininmonth, who has held the position for three years.

He will be responsible for the sourcing of C&C’s wine portfolio across Matthew Clark, Tennent’s Wholesale, Bibendum Wine, Bibendum Off Trade, and Walker & Wodehouse.

He will also be driving the commercial wine strategy across the GB on- and off-trade.

Focus On Wine

The appointment of Avenell signals the group’s ongoing focus on wine, as it continues to curate an exciting range, globally sourced and available at multiple price points.

Avenell was previously a senior wine buyer within the C&C group. He started working with Bibendum Wine some 14 years ago and has held a number of key positions within the business since then.

As well as strong relationships with producers, Avenell has a number of credentials that make him uniquely suited to the role.

He is a judge for various wine competitions, including the Decanter World Wine Awards, and a second-year student pursuing Master of Wine status.
