Coca-Cola Launch 10th Annual Designated Driver Campaign

Coca-Cola Ireland has launched its tenth annual 'Designated Driver' campaign. An investment of €6 million has been placed into the campaign over the past 10 years to promote road safety during the Christmas season.

Working with commercial trade, designated drivers have the opportunity to avail of free soft and fruit drinks, and also bottled water. The campaign was created by Irish employees of Coca-Cola ten years ago against a concern of rising number of alcohol-related fatalities on the road. It has been endorsed by An Garda Siochana and the Road Safety Authority and availed by thousands of designated drivers.

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Pascal Donohue T.D. said: “Any measure that encourages and promotes road safety is to be applauded. […] By offering free soft drinks and bottled water to designated drivers, Coca-Cola, recognises the importance of incentivising drivers to remain alcohol free, which in turn makes our roads safer.”
