Diageo Appoints Former Rémy Cointreau CEO As Non-Exec Director

Drinks giant Diageo has announced the appointment of former Rémy Cointreau CEO Valérie Chapoulaud-Floquet as a non-executive director, effective from 1 January 2021.

On appointment, Chapoulaud-Floquet will also join Diageo's audit, nomination and remuneration committees.

Before joining Rémy Cointreau, Chapoulaud-Floquet worked for Louis Vuitton, LVMH Group for six years in various roles, including as president and CEO for the Americas, president and CEO for North America, president South Europe and CEO and president of Louis Vuitton Taiwan.

She also previously held senior positions at L'Oréal S.A., Europe and USA.

Experience and Expertise

"Having spent her career in consumer goods in a number of markets, including North America, and as a former CEO in the premium drinks industry, she brings great experience and expertise to the Diageo Board and I look forward immensely to her contributions to our discussions," said Javier Ferrán,chairman, Diageo.

Ferrán added that he believed Chapoulaud-Floquet will 'make a very valuable contribution as we progress to achieving our ambition to become one of the most trusted and respected consumer products companies in the world.'

Chapoulaud-Floquet is currently an independent director on the supervisory board of Nextstage S.C.A.

Successor 

After five years Chapoulaud-Floquet stepped down from her role at Rémy Cointreau at the end of last year.

Rémy Cointreau's share price had more than doubled since Chapoulaud-Floquet,  took over in September 2014 with a strategy focused on selling spirits priced at $50 (€44.66) or more a bottle.

She is succeeded by Eric Vallat who started his new role with the French cognac maker 1 December, 2019.
