Findlater Group Regretfully Announces Passing Of Peter Poor

The Findlater Wine & Spirit Group has announced with much sadness the passing of its Business Development Manager, Peter Poor, who was a much-loved figure in the Irish wine trade for more than 15 years. He was 63.

Originally from Massachusetts, he met his future wife Caroline in the US, before relocating to her hometown of Belfast, where he joined Direct Wine Shipments (DWS) as a Wine Specialist.

Poor was then appointed national sales manager for DWS wholesale business, Woodford Bourne. He would later play a key role in ensuring the smooth integration of FindlaterGrants into the Woodford Bourne business, which led to the creation Findlater Wine & Spirit Group in 2008.

He went on to manage a series of business development roles to help drive the company forward, such as creating synergies between Robert Roberts’ Food Service and its Wine Division, and establishing and building key relationships with customers such as The Marker Hotel, Powerscourt Hotel and Zaragoza Restaurant.

Poor worked with both trade and consumers, and enjoyed a huge following from wine fans, journalists and celebrities alike.  He also regularly represented the Findlater Wine & Spirit Group business on national radio and TV.

Peter Poor is survived by his children, Hannah and Matthew, and wife Caroline.  The family has requested no flowers at this time, but ask that, if desired, donations instead be made to Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.
