Guinness Amplify Live took place in Connacht this weekend, with up-and-coming musicians performing in hundreds of pubs across the county.
An Pucán in Galway played host to three of the most highly acclaimed musicians of 2014; Kodaline, London Grammar and Dan Croll, who gave a surprise performance to an audience of 300 people. Elsewhere, bands including The Academic, OTHERKIN, Corner Boy and Chris Haze played a series of intimate gigs.
News of the surprise performance spread through the Guinness Twitter and Facebook pages earlier in the week, before the acts revealed their exact location via Vine on Saturday afternoon.
Following the event, the owner of An Pucán said, “It was a brilliant night here in Galway. We had no idea we’d be playing host to such amazing musical talent. The crowd was in awe and the night was very special. It will be remembered in Galway for a long time to come.”
Guinness Amplify Live is set to take place in Munster on October 2-5, and in Dublin from October 9-12, with surprise acts to be announced.
Still due to play the Guinness Amplify lineup are Bastille, Jess Glynne, Rudimental, Kidnap Kid, George Ezra and Walking On Cars.
In reference to the Connacht gigs, Lisa Fitzsimons, Guinness Marketing Manager said: “The gigs to date have been unbelievable - we’re delighted so many Guinness Amplify acts are getting the chance to play gigs all across the country. We will no doubt see lots more of the same as we move on to Munster and then to Dublin.”
