NOffLA Announces New Management Appointments

The National Off-Licence Association (NOffLA) has announced the appointment of Gary O’Donovan as its new Chairperson. Cathal McHugh will become Vice-Chair. Evelyn Jones will remain with the Association as Government Affairs Director.

Gary O’Donovan runs the O’Donovan Off-Licence group, one of the largest independent off-licence groups in Ireland. He has been a member of the Champagne Academy since 1995, lectured for the Wine Development Board of Ireland for over 15 years and been Vice Chair of NOffLA since 2010.

Commenting on his appointment, he said; “Reversing the decline of the independent off-licence sector will be a key priority during my tenure. […] I continue to work with, and on behalf of, existing members while developing our membership base.”

Speaking about her new role, Evelyn Jones said: “Government Affairs director is a new role that will allow me to focus solely to ensure our sector is best represented. […] There are a number of priorities we will be looking to engage with Government on in 2015. These include publication of the Public Health (Alcohol) Bill, the introduction of a statutory code of practice for the sale and display of alcohol and the ban of below cost selling.”
