The Teeling Whiskey Company, which recently announced plans to develop a distillery in Dublin 8, has posted a profit of €74k in its first full year of trading, according to accounts just filed.
The company, which is headed up by family members Jack, Stephen and Katherine Teeling, posted a turnover of €2.7 million in the year to 31 December 2013, and a gross profit of €804k.
Interestingly, most of the company's sales came from overseas, with 32% of the firms sales allocated to 'Europe' and 34% to 'Rest of The World', during the period.
The Teeling Whiskey Company "is an independent Irish whiskey company dedicated to bringing choice and breadth back to the Irish whiskey category through small batch releases of interesting and flavorsome bottlings," the directors said in a statement.
They added that planning permission was granted for a proposed distillery site at Newmarket Square in November 2013, with "building work set to commence in September 2014." The company expects construction to take between six and nine months, with a visitor centre to follow in 2015.
