Money raised at the first Torres Wine & Dine in the Dark evening has been donated to blindness charity Sightsavers to ensure 34 sight-saving operations can be carried out in the developing as part of its Million Miracles Campaign.
The Wine & Dine in the Dark event saw almost 30 people blindfolded for a five-course meal at Bijou Restaurant in Rathgar to enhance their other senses and give them a taste of life without sight on the 5th of March.
The menu included unusual delicacies such as Dinish Island Scallop Mousse, Saddle of Rabbit and a Strawberry ‘Spaghetti’ – with chocolate bolognaise and white chocolate ‘parmesan’.
The courses were paired with wines from the Torres premium range, including their award-winning Mas La Plana Cabernet Sauvignon, oak-aged Fransola Sauvignon Blanc and de-alcoholised wine option Natureo.
Manager of Bijou Restaurant, Martin Meade presented the €1,240 cheque to Sightsavers Head of Corporate and Major Gifts, Noel Keogh on the 12th of March.
