Bord Bia Hosts Business Breakfast At Bloom

Bord Bia has welcomed 150 trade buyers to a business breakfast at gardening, food and family festival Bloom, held in Phoenix Park, until this coming June bank holiday.

This marks the second year that Bord Bia has hosted a business breakfast at Bloom, bringing together Irish retail and food service buyers, with participation from Selfridges UK and The Health Store UK. This year sees buyers from Lidl, Aldi, BWG, Dunnes Stores and Gala, as well as Tesco and Fallon & Bryne, alongside representatives from Aer Lingus, Aramack and Pallas.

Speaking in advance of the event, Aidan Cotter, Chief Executive commented; “Bord Bia's Bloom in the Park provides a wonderful setting in which Irish food and drink producers - many of whom are participating at Bloom - to engage with buyers in the early morning peace of the Phoenix Park and then enjoy the festival atmosphere of one of the highlights of the Irish social calendar.”

Bloom 2015 welcomed record crowds to the Phoenix Park for its opening day this week, with over 15,000 people; a 30% increase on figures from 2014. Attendees enjoyed old favourites like award-winning show gardens and the Bord Bia Quality Kitchen stage, featuring top chefs Catherine Fulvio and Neven Maguire, as well as some new additions such as Banter at Bloom.

Also attending the opening was President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins and his wife Sabina, as well as An Tanaiste Joan Burton, and the Minister for Agriculture, Marine and Food Simon Coveney, where they enjoyed a tour of the award winning show gardens with Bloom Show Manager Gary Graham and Bord Bia Chief Executive Aidan Cotter.
