Dawn Meats Wins Three Awards For Sustainability And Manufacturing

Waterford-based meat processor Dawn Meats has won three awards for sustainability and manufacturing.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Mattias Fekl, France's Minister of State for Foreign Trade, awarded Dawn Meats the Special Award for Sustainable Energy at the Ireland France Business Awards.

The France Ireland Chamber of Commerce and NetworkIrlande recognised the company's environmental initiatives at their event in the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham.

Commenting of the award, CEO of Dawn Meats Niall Browne said, "This award recognises Dawn Meats’ longstanding role in the strong trade and investment relationship between Ireland and France. It serves to underline Dawn Meats’ sustainability credentials and commitment to the environment."

Dawn Meats also collected the awards for Food Manufacturing Company of the Year and Environmental Initiative of the Year at the Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards in London. The judging panel awarded the company's use of "wind turbine technology, the construction of a seven acre wetland and the building of a roof garden to improve biodiversity."
