Former Aldi executive Malachy O’Connor has been appointed as Fresh Food Commercial Category Director at Tesco Ireland.
At Tesco, the Tyrone native will oversee all of Tesco’s fresh food purchasing, particularly in the areas of fresh, chilled, dairy and bakery produce.
At Aldi, he held the dual role of Buying and Marketing Director for six years, from 2008 to 2014. He also held previous roles with BWG Foods, Superquinn and Dunnes Stores.
Commenting on the announcement, John Paul O’Reilly, Commercial Director, Tesco Ireland said, “I am delighted to welcome Malachy to our commercial team. Malachy brings a wealth of fresh food buying expertise and passion to his new role and I am confident that he will provide excellent leadership and a heightened focus on fresh food.”
