Giant Avocados Invade Tesco Outlets

Tesco Ireland has announced it will stock giant avocados in a select number of stores from today, Friday 12 September.
'Avozillas' are up to six times the size of a standard avocado, and are produced by just four trees in a forest in Limpopo, South Africa. As these trees are not available for commercial sale, there is limited supply of the fruit at Tesco stores.
Tesco Ireland hopes that the Avozillas will tap in to the current trend for avocado toast. This nutritious breakfast option has proven popular in the last few months, with Google Trends reporting that searches for it have increased by up to 31% since the start of summer.
Commenting on the launch, Denise Foley, Tesco Ireland Fresh Food Buyer said, “This limited stock of Avozillas is exclusive to Tesco and is being introduced following a successful trial in UK stores last year.
“Deliveries will be going into a select number of stores on Friday morning and will be available this weekend while stocks last,” she added.
