GIY (Grow It Yourself) and Renault are offering food growers the chance to win a Renault Fluence Z.E Electric Car, by snapping and sharing a #GrowItYourSelfie photo of themselves with their gardening efforts.
The competition marks the final phase of GIY’s fundraising campaign for its pioneering food education centre, GROW HQ, set to open in 2016.
Along with posting selfies, food growers across Ireland, from beginners to experts, are asked to donate €2 to GROW HQ by texting ‘GIY’ to 57802.
A shortlist of the best selfies will be published by GIY, and the public will be given the chance to pick a winner in August. The best selfie will be rewarded with a 100% electric Renault EV at GIY’s annual festival GROW Fest, taking place in Waterford in September.
Founder of GIY, Michael Kelly, commented, “I love sharing my GIY triumphs and tragedies on social media and can’t wait to see the ‘GrowItYourSelfies’ coming in from veg patches all over Ireland.
“We’re hugely grateful to Renault for putting such a brilliant incentive in place and this funding is hugely important to us to get the GROW HQ project off the ground.”
