Irish glass and metal packaging giant Ardagh Group has announced the launch of a new 187ml single-serve glass wine bottle.
According to the group’s Glass North American unit, single-serve wine bottles are increasingly popular among consumers and represent a significant new category in the overall wine market.
The group collaborated with GPS Global Brands, a business development company focused on providing luxury single-serve options for the wine industry, on the project.
“Luxury single-serve gives premium brands a new opportunity to connect with customers in the vital by-the-glass space, while providing a range of new sales channels,” Matt Wood, CEO of GPS Global Brands, said.
“Our customers are drinking less, but better. Since glass is the only vessel for fine wine, we went to the leading glass manufacturer for wine bottles, Ardagh Group. Their professional design team helped us bring our patent-pending format to life and allowed us to proudly make it right here in the USA.”
Glass bottles are 100% and endlessly recyclable, and they can go from the recycling bin to the store shelf in as little as 30 days.
“This bottle was designed to run efficiently on both manufacturing and filling lines, in addition to being aesthetically pleasing to the eye,” said Jeff Oberti, vice president of sales for Ardagh Direct.
