Did you know… Smithwicks has launched a new integrated marketing campaign across TV, print, digital, PR and trade press? The new campaign focuses on the message ‘Superior Then. Superior Now’ and highlights the brand’s longstanding brewing expertise. Commenting on the new campaign, Jennifer English, Marketing Director, Diageo said: “This campaign celebrates how craftsmanship, attention to detail and experience are appreciated by people for generations. Fashions come and go but quality endures.”

Did you know… An Australian firm, Plain Packaging Consultants, is positioning itself as the first consultancy to specialise in advising manufacturers, retailers and the industry about cigarette pack standardisation? According to a statement issued by the firm, "As the principals of Plain Packaging Consultants have managed and grown brands through the implementation of Plain Packaging legislation, they are perfectly positioned to share their experiences, data and outcomes."

Did you know… Marks & Spencer is introducing the super-sized King Grape to its Irish stores for the first time? The new variety is at least a third bigger than average grapes, and are handpicked to ensure they meet the target size of 25mm. They currently retail at €5.79 for 400g in M&S stores nationwide.

Did you know… Facilities management firm Aramark has appointed Elbha Purcell as company dietitian? Her role will primarily be to develop menus and training programmes to ensure the nutritional requirements within the company’s healthcare line of business are met. Purcell brings 12 years worth of experience as a registered dietitian to the role.

Did you know… Gluten Free Ireland, an online community for coeliac sufferers, is to host a major event at the Marine Hotel, Ballycastle, Northern Ireland later this month? The event, which will showcase some of the biggest brands in gluten-free food production, takes place on April 18.

Did you know… UB Snackfoods Ireland, a subsidiary of United Biscuits focused on sales and marketing activity for its brands in Ireland, posted a profit after tax of £85k (€116k) for the year to 31 December 2013, according to accounts filed with the Companies Registration Office. The performance of the business is up on the following year, when a loss after tax of £106k was reported.

Did you know… The Irish Farmers Association has teamed up with the Irish Farm Film Producers Group (IFFPG) to tackle the problem of litter in rural areas? The campaign will aim to deal with litter left by passing motorists, which the IFA says is a "real issue in rural Ireland. The Department of Environment must step up their action in this area by introducing tougher penalties and ensuring that local authorities more effectively implement litter laws”.

Did you know… A Canadian turkey farm in Ontario, Canada, has tested positive for H5 avian influenza? The farm, near Woodstock, has been placed on quarantine by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to control the infection. It's not the first time Canada has been hit with a strain of bird flu - last year, two farms in British Columbia were hit by the infection.

Did you know… GAA star Paul Galvin has been signed up to design the latest men's fashion range for Dunnes Stores? The Kerry footballer is reportedly designing a range based on his 'quirky' fashion sense, and follows in the footsteps of golfer Padraig Harrington, who designed a golf fashion range for the retailer last year.
