Data from Kantar Worldpanel has indicated that the current PL (private label & unbranded) share of the Total Grocery market (52 we 8th Dec) now stands at 48%.
This is an increase of 1.5 percentage points in share from last year (46.5%), stemming from sales growth of 4.1%.
The data indicates that PL share is up in every category covered by Kantar Worldpanel, rising to 20% in Total Alcohol (up from 16.4%), 17.8% in Total Healthcare (up from 16.9%), 31% in Total Household (up from 30%), 11.3% in Total Toiletries (up from 10.8%), 27% in Ambient Groceries (up from 25.6%), and 38.6% in Frozen (up from 35.6%).
PL share is highest in Total Fresh & Chilled, the data reveals, at 72.4%. This is up from 71.5% last year.
