Did you know?... Johnnie Walker is to open its first flagship experiential store, in central Madrid, in November 2018. The Spanish capital was selected as the location for the first Johnnie Walker experiential retail flagship due to its status as a leading tourism and retail destination and the popularity of Scotch in the country. The cutting-edge store will feature an interactive hosting area where guests can discover the craft of cocktail making, a tasting table where they can deep dive into the flavours that lie at the heart of Johnnie Walker, and a personalisation station where visitors will be able to find unique gifts and add bespoke engravings and labels to their purchases.

Did you know?... Sainsbury’s is selling the bizarre blends of both Brussels sprouts and pigs in blankets (sausages wrapped in bacon) flavoured tea bags. The Brussels Sprouts brew will be a veggie-infused green tea, while the smokey Pigs In Blankets will feature sage and rosemary, offering a rather controversial take on a classic cuppa. The unique blends have already divided opinion on social media, with tea fans commenting in outrage at the non-traditional flavours.

Did you know?... Nestlé Waters UK is continuing its partnership with recycling charity, RECOUP, and environmental education organisation, Wastebuster, to deliver an updated recycling education programme for UK schools in 2018. This year will see the national rollout of the initiative, which aims to help children understand the responsibility they have in becoming more environmentally aware citizens.

Did you know?... A majority of UK consumers are choosing healthy options when selecting snacks, according to the Healthy Snacking Report 2018 by HIM – a leading shopper insights agency within convenience, wholesale and high street channels. Around 55% of the respondents said they purchased healthy snacks, while 46% found the products to be too expensive.

Did you know?... Ardagh Group, the Irish-based packaging company, announced the introduction of Kahlúa Espresso Martini in Nitro Cans. The Nitro Can is the ready-to-drink (RTD) packaging solution for nitro beverages and was launched in late 2016 to capitalise on the nitro coffee trend gaining momentum in key European markets. Kahlúa uses a 250ml slim Nitro Can to provide consumers with a velvety smooth Espresso Martini infused with nitrogen.

Did you know?... Diageo was last week awarded the Simon Broadbent Prize for Best Dedication to Effectiveness at the 2018 IPA Effectiveness Awards, for consistently demonstrating its commitment to effectiveness and evaluation. The award is given to the client that consistently demonstrates a strong effectiveness culture. This year Diageo collected a gold award for Guinness and a silver for Bailey’s, adding to their already impressive collection of wins, including Johnnie Walker’s Grand Prix in 2008, gold awards for Johnnie Walker in 2008 and Guinness in 2016, and a bronze prize for Gordon’s in 2012.
