Did you know...? US President Donald Trump’s trade war has taken its first casualty and it’s not steel or aluminium, but cranberries. The red berries could see an import levy of up to 25% as a retaliation to Trump's proposed tariffs on steel and aluminium imports.

Did you know...? Guinness, Johnnie Walker and Tanqueray parent company Diageo has acquired Belsazar, a German premium aperitif, which was launched in 2013. Diageo said that this move will strengthen its position in the aperitif segment, and allow for the expansion of the Belsazar brand across Europe.

Did you know...? Tesco is introducing a new vegan option into its stores with the launch of the plant-based meat alternative Oumph! The Swedish brand has been on sale in Scandinavia since 2015, but Tesco is now bringing it to the UK in response to 'strong customer demand for plant-based foods'.

Did you know...? Tequila and mezcal are booming in the US, with even vodka makers trying to push into the market. SPI Group, the company behind Stolichnaya vodka, is starting its own tequila and mezcal brands in the US. The idea is to capitalise on a shift by consumers toward the Mexican liquors, which have outpaced vodka and other spirits that once dominated American bars.

Did you know...? Budweiser parent company AB InBev is expanding to East Africa, with a recently-agreed $100 million brewery in Tanzania. The world’s biggest beer maker is stepping up its African investment to meet the booming demand on the continent.
