Did you know?... Most wasabi in Irish supermarkets has been called fake by Sean Kitson, Ireland’s first commercial wasabi grower. Speaking on the Ray D’Arcy show, Kitson said that unless wasabi is grated in front of you, its fake, and claimed that people are actually eating horseradish, mustard, and green dye.

Did you know?... Nine out of ten shoppers say they are more likely to revisit stores that leverage music, visuals and scent, according to new research. A recent survey from Mood Media reveals consumer attitudes toward the in-store customer experience as well as in-store shopping behaviours. The report, entitled “Elevating the Customer Experience: The Impact of Sensory Marketing,” found that 78% of shoppers globally say an enjoyable in-store atmosphere is a key factor in their decision to choose in-store over e-commerce.

Did you know?... British-retailer Poundland has been accused of creating unnecessary plastic waste by selling nothing, complete with heart-shaped packaging, for Valentine’s Day. Called the Gift Of Nothing, the product is on sale for one pound and is accompanied by the taglines “exactly what you asked for” and “less is more”. While some have found the novelty gift funny, environmental groups have labelled it “a symbol of everything that is wrong with our view of the world.”

Did you know?... The iconic Cadbury Creme Eggs are now back in stores nationwide and among them are 111 white chocolate Creme Eggs. Finding a white chocolate cream egg gives consumers a chance of winning €10,000. The promotion will run until 21 April, 2019.

Did you know?... Thirty years after first introducing the tagline “The Best A Man Can Get,” Gillette is taking a fresh look at what it means to be “the best” and how we continue to portray those ideals in a modern way. The razor blade maker is introducing a new marketing campaign and charitable program dedicated to celebrating the stories of men making a positive impact, and to inspire others in the process. The program-leading short film, entitled We Believe, begins with a compilation of actions commonly associated with “toxic masculinity”.

Did you know?... Old Spice reveals a ‘fresh’ new face and Old Spice Guy, actor/comedian/writer Deon Cole (from Black-ish, Grown-ish) who takes on a coveted role as a global ambassador. Cole will debut in “Running on Empty,” the first spot from the new “Men Have Skin Too” advertising campaign premiering on television nationwide January 20 during the NFL Conference Championship Games.
