Did you know?... Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has started testing a new cashless shopping system at some of its stores involving electronic shelf labels. The labels can be scanned with a store card, which automatically registers the item in customers' digital basket and lets them pay directly via a smartphone app without using a checkout as part of the store's ‘tap, grab and go’ system.
