Projected BWG Foodservice Sales To Surpass €100m For First Time In History

BWG Foodservice has announced today (7 March) that its sales in 2017 will surpass €100 million for the first time in the company’s history.

The company, which is part of the BWG Group, posted its sixth year of consecutive growth in 2016 with a recorded sales increase of 15%. It attributes to increased sales in its enhanced Fresh and Chilled category which delivered 26% overall, reflecting growing demand for healthy food offerings in the marketplace. The Frozen category also enjoyed growth of over 20%, which was facilitated by continued investment in range development and innovation across key frozen categories.

Commenting on the company’s performance, John Moane, managing director of BWG Wholesale, said, “We were delighted with the growth delivered in 2016 but we are particularly excited about the fact that we’re forecast to hit €100 million sales for the first time this year. We’re now a major player in Ireland’s foodservice industry and this is down to our relentless focus on always delivering high quality produce at a competitive price point, efficiently as possible through our unique supply chain.”

The leading food service business also announced that it has secured major supply contracts totalling €29 million with the HSE and leading catering groups Baxter Story, Gather & Gather and First Choice Purchasing.

Commenting on these contracts wins, Moane added, “Being selected by these partners has been transformational, representing a significant addition to our nationwide business. It’s hugely exciting because it gives us access to some of Ireland’s leading organisations, their staff, their customers, and their patients.”
