Redevelopment Of Dún Laoghaire Shopping Centre Gets Green Light

In a move welcomed by retailers in the seaside town, Dún Laoghaire Shopping Centre has been granted planning permission for a €10 million redevelopment of the centre, which it hopes will bring in a new anchor tenant.

The proposed Georges Street anchor store extends to 3,262 square metres over two levels, while the Marine Road anchor would extend to approximately 1,825 square metres.

It is not thought that the current anchor tenant, SuperValu, will be affected by the centre redevelopment, nor will the also-Musgrave-owned Centra.

Other key tenants include Tesco Ireland, whose office is based on the top floor of the shopping centre, New Look, Specsavers and Lifestyle Sports.

Speaking to the Irish Times, Jason Miller, director of Murphy Mulhall, the centre's agents, said, “We have been in close talks with a number of parties for these superb spaces and getting the grant moves us a step closer to taking Dún Laoghaire back to its rightful position as one of the ‘go to shopping destinations’ in South County Dublin.”
