Revenue Officers At Dublin Airport Seize 16,000 Cigarettes

Revenue officers at Dublin airport seize 16,000 cigarettes after searching a passenger on Saturday, June 17.

The 28 year old Romanian, who remains unnamed, was traveling from Chisinau via Frankfurt and arrested on the scene. Cartons of Marlboro and Camel were found in the man’s possessions. This past Saturday, the man appeared before Judge Victor Blake in Cloverhill District Court, and will remain in custody until Friday next, 23 June, when he will again be brought before the Court.

In total, the cigarettes hold a retail value of €8,800, representing a representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €7,100.
