Tesco has announced the sale of its opticians business in the Republic of Ireland and the UK to Vision Express, in a statement it issued today (19 April).
Tesco Opticians operates in three stores in the Republic of Ireland and 206 stores across the UK.
Reportedly, the sale is subject to regulatory approval by the Competition and Markets Authority in the UK.
Commenting on the agreement, Andrew Yaxley Tesco Ireland CEO, said: “This allows us to further simplify and strengthen our business and ensures our customers are still able to enjoy high quality eye care services from Vision Express in our stores.”
It outlined that it reached the recent decision 'in a move to further simplify its business and serve its shoppers better'.
Yaxley added, “Our priority now is to work with our colleagues and support them through this change.”
