Lakeland Dairies’ Banbridge facility will switch to “seasonal processing” from September onwards. The country’s third largest dairy processor has assured that it is a common feature of the industry, and is consulting with staff on the implementation of the changes.

Alcohol prices fell 0.3% in the year to July 2016. They fell by 0.2% when compared to the previous month, June, according to the latest CSO figures. In the off-trade, alcoholic beverage prices fell 3.1% in the 12 months to July 2016 which comprised a rise of 0.8% in spirits prices, a fall of 5.7% in wine prices and a fall of 1.9% in beer prices.

Ireland’s artisan food sector is estimated to reach €706m in 2016. According to research from Mintel, this is an increase of 3.7% on the previous year. Mintel also forecasts further growth of 10% between 2016 and 2021.

Keelings Sweet Irish Strawberries has been shortlisted for the finals of the Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards 2016. David Keeling, CEO Keelings Retail, commented on being a finalist: "We're very happy to have our delicious Keeling Sweet Irish Strawberries shortlisted in the Irish Quality Food & Drink Awards from so many other products from across the country."

Tesco Ireland are sharing recipes to promote healthier back to school lunchboxes. The retailer conducted a survey that showed 60% of parents struggled to find new lunch ideas, and 87% lacked inspiration for tasty but healthy lunchbox options. The recipes used a variety of products from Tesco’s Staying Down food range.

Copeland Gin, is seeking to raise funds for production and marketing. The handcrafted Northern Irish gin is the brainchild of Belfast-based businessman Gareth Irvine. He hopes to raise at least £23,750 through crowdfunding and has already secured pledges from supporters of almost £14,000 by the middle of next month.
