Will The FMCG Sector Be At The Table This Year?

Since 2012, business leaders from the Technology, Pharmaceutical, Professional Services, Communications, Engineering and Construction Industries have been supporting Focus Ireland’s Shine A Light Night, where CEO’s and MD’s sleep-out for one night to raise funds and awareness for Focus Ireland. This year the charity is reaching out to business leaders from the FMCG sector to join the campaign and come together with their peers on October 13th to shine a light on homelessness.

Shine A Light Night is the charity’s flagship campaign and over the past six years more than 400 of Ireland’s top business leaders from Google, Facebook, Toyota, PayPal and Bord Gáis Energy, to name but a few, have taken part, sending a strong message of solidarity and showing their support for Focus Ireland, who are working to end homelessness in Ireland.

The charity is determined to end homelessness by preventing people from becoming homeless and have run innovative and pioneering services that are proven to be effective in preventing people from becoming homeless. They also work with more than 1200 families, including 2,777 children, who are currently homeless in Ireland, to move them out of unsuitable, temporary, emergency homeless accommodation and into a home of their own. However, the problem is getting worse, with more than 70 families becoming homeless in Ireland, so demand on their services has never been greater.

Focus Ireland is aware of the important role FMCG goods play in the lives of consumers nationwide, including those accessing homeless services, for this reason the charity believes now, more than ever, is the right time for the industry to get behind the campaign.
