Winners Announced At Retail Excellence Ireland Awards

Retail Excellence Ireland has announced the winners of the 2014 Retail Excellence Ireland Awards in association with Barclaycard.

John Burke of Caulfield’s SuperValu in Loughboy Co. Kilkenny won Manager of the Year, while Spar, Dame Street, Dublin took home Store of the Year (2,500-5,000 Sq. Ft) and Topaz, Dublin Airport, Dublin won Store of the Year (1,000-2,500 Sq. Ft).

The recipients were named at a gala ceremony in Galway attended by over 500 retail industry representatives from around Ireland. Company of the Year and Best Small Company went to Danish store Tiger.

Speaking at the awards, David Fitzsimons, CEO of Retail Excellence said, “These retailers represent all that is best in the retail industry in Ireland. They have shown a consistent commitment to excellence in meeting and exceeding customer expectations in terms of service and product quality. To be recognised as the best amongst their peers is an incredible testament to the hard work that they have put in throughout 2014.

Fitzsimons called the outlook for retail this Christmas “positive” and said the retail industry is responding to this improved climate by offering more than 15 million hours of ‘10 week’ seasonal temporary contracts to meet the needs of our customers which represents an increase of 8% on Christmas 2013.

Fitzsimons concluded: “The winners of Retail Excellence Awards are well placed to capitalise on positive sentiment post Budget 2015 to meet customers’ needs over the Christmas Season. The fact that they have been recognised on the national stage will support them in their efforts to attract new customers eager to sample their stores.”
