Samara Ward Wins Aldi Brown Bread Baking Competition

Samara Ward from Inver, Co. Donegal has been crowned the winner of The National Brown Bread Baking Competition, sponsored by Aldi and in association with the National Ploughing Association (NPA) and the Irish Countrywomen's Association (ICA).

The final was held yesterday (19th September) in the Aldi Marquee at the National Ploughing Championships in Ballintrane, Fenagh, Co. Carlow where Samara rose to the challenge and emerged victorious, commended by the judges for her Brown Bread’s traditional appearance and perfect texture.

Relaunch

Relaunched five years ago by the NPA, the event was a huge success with entries from each one of the 26 counties through the ICA and through Aldi regional heats.

Her brown bread will be stocked in all 139 Aldi Stores in Ireland for a minimum of six months and during this time Samara will receive a share of the profits, guaranteed to be at least €15,000, the retailer said.
