Budget 2024: Main Points That Affect The Irish Grocery Retail Industry

The Minister for Finance Michael McGrath and Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe have delivered Budget 2024 to Dáil Éireann.

Here are the main points, that effect the Irish Grocery Retail Industry.

Tobacco

The excise tax on cigarettes will increase, which means that a box of 20 cigarettes will increase by 75c, with a pro-rata increase on other tobacco products.

Public Transport

The 20% fare reduction on public transport will be extended to the end of 2024.

Household Energy Bills

All households will receive electricity credits totalling €450, to be paid in three instalments of €150.

SME's 

There will be a €250 million fund allocated to support up to 130,000 small and medium sized businesses.

Climate Action 

There will be a 90c increase on a 40kg on a bag of coal and 20c increase in a 12.5kg on a peat bale.
