BWG Foods Wins National Operational Excellence Award

BWG Foods was honoured at the annual Operational Excellence Awards on 30 May, when its National Distribution Centre (NDC) won.

The company, which is one of Ireland’s leading retail and wholesale companies, won the Operational Excellence in Warehousing Award.

Through the Kilcarbery, Co. Dublin-based NDC, BWG provides employment to more than 300 people and handles over 50 million cases each year.

BWG’s team at the NDC serves its customer base with a wide range of ambient, fresh, chilled and alcoholic products.

It supplies products in the most efficient manner possible, and it was also a finalist in the Transport and Logistics category on the night.

It facilitates, on average, 600 deliveries a day, handling approximately one million cases each week.

BWG Foods’ award-winning logistics division is among the largest in the country.

It supplies over 1,000 stores nationwide, which, combined, serve one million people per day.

The NDC is recognised as an innovator in the supply chain.

Speaking about the honour, BWG’s logistics director, Joanne Mellon, said, “Operating a logistics and distribution operation of the scale of the NDC requires a truly exceptional team, who are 100% committed to the job.

“I am exceptionally proud of the unwavering passion and determination the team at the NDC show every single day, and this award is just recognition of their continuing excellence.”

BWG’s Nigel Lunn accepted the award on behalf of the company.
