Carrefour Italia Launches “Low Cost” Clothing in Hypermarkets

French retailer Carrefour has launched a pilot project in Italy, which introduces “low cost” fashion items in hypermarkets.

The company has opened a 'fashion corner' in its hypermarket in the city of Assago, near Milan, offering “current clothing at discount prices”.

The space includes "casual, urban and sportswear" fashion items for men, women and children. The new range is made up of about 14,000 Italian and international products.

The retailer said that the prices of the pieces will be between 20% and 25% lower than competing fashion brands OVS, H&M and Zara. With this pilot project, which will last three months, Carrefour Italia plans to "create the atmosphere of clothing shops in a supermarket".

The concept will be extended to other Carrefour stores in Italy.
