Centra has reported €40 million worth of sales of own-brand products since the new range was launched in April.
In a statement, the Musgrave-owned retailer said that 110 of the 150 suppliers that produce for the new range are Irish, and the own-brand range is set to contribute to approximately €150 million worth of retail sales for these companies in 2013.
“Local suppliers of all sizes play a key role in our new product offering. By continuing to source high quality produce from local suppliers, we are reinforcing our commitment to communities throughout Ireland,” said Martin Kelleher, Managing Director, Centra.
“In 2012, we purchased over €1 billion worth of Irish goods, which is a substantial investment for the Irish economy, and as the range develops we expect this figure to increase exponentially.”
Kelleher added that as the own-brand range develops, the level of purchasing of Irish goods by the retailer, which totaled €1 billion last year, is expected to increase “exponentially.”
