Cheerios Maker Appoints Elizabeth Lempres To Board Of Directors

Cheerios and Yoplait maker General Mills has announced the election of Elizabeth C. Lempres to its board of directors effective 24 June, 2019.

She will serve on the Audit and Finance committees of the board, bringing with her a 'deep strategic, financial and risk management expertise to the board and its committees, the company said.

Vast Experience

Lempres has worked advising multinational corporations and leading the consumer goods practice group at management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where she served as a Senior Partner and Global Leader up until her retirement in 2017.

She worked at the company for 28 years, holding a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including private equity and principal investors and senior partner and global leader of the consumer sector.

Before joining McKinsey, Lempres held positions in engineering related fields at IBM and General Electric.

She currently serves on the boards of Axalta Coating Systems and Canadian-based Great-West Lifeco.

General Mills added that the appointment reflects its ‘thoughtful approach to board succession and refreshment’, as it continues to prioritise directors with world-class qualifications and experiences, as well as diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

The Cheerios maker recently reported that its quarterly sales had dipped behind Wall Street estimates, hit by lower snacks demand in North America, sending shares down 6% before the bell.

General Mills, like many other packaged food companies, has been hit by consumers' growing preference for healthier breakfast and snacking options.
