Dealz And Pepco Begin Makeovers Of 150 Stores

Dealz and Pepco today announced plans to makeover 150 of their stores in Ireland and the UK by the end of August.

The endeavour, named Project Evo, will see stores get a top-to-bottom refresh in the first significant investment in the majority of selected stores in the past five years.

Both customers and staff members will benefit from the work, as staff spaces will be upgraded, as well as the shop floor.

Upgraded Locations

Contractors are already on site in 11 locations, so the first premises will be relaunched within two weeks.

This Saturday, 17 February, Project Evo refurbishments will be complete in Mullingar and Cavan.

Next Saturday, the upgraded store in Athlone will be completed.

The planned works mean that, by Easter – on 31 March – 42 stores across Ireland and the UK will have been upgraded.

The specific works vary from store to store, but all outlets will offer a comprehensive range of products, chilled and frozen food, and the latest in homeware and clothing.

Stores will also be fitted out with new signage, flowing and lighting, for an improved shopping experience.

‘Best Offer’

The director of property services at Poundland and Dealz, Alan Smallman, said that the project represented a significant investment to improve the sites.

Smallman said, “Over the past five years, we’ve transformed our offer for customers, adding extensive ranges of clothing, homewares, [and] chilled and frozen food.

“We’re now embarking on a programme that will show off those ranges in a modern and bright environment that’s easy to shop, navigate, and check out.

“We look forward to bringing our best offer to these 150 stores over the next seven months.”

Last month, Pepco, which also runs Dealz and Poundland, reported a 2.3% fall in underlying sales for the Christmas quarter in 2023.

As well as these improvements, Pepco plans to open 400 new stores in the 2024 financial year.
