Did you know ...? Polish retailer Eurocash Group has reported sales growth of 3% year-on-year to PLN 26.3 billion (€5.7 billion) in its financial year 2021. EBITDA, excluding write-offs in the retail segment, remained the same as the year before at PLN 782 million (€168.4 million), the retail group noted.

Did you know ...? Japanese retailer Seven & I Holdings Co, facing pressure from activist investors for structural reforms, has nominated a former executive of Uber Technologies Inc to join its board of directors, the company said. The operator of the 7-Eleven chain of convenience stores has named Elizabeth Miin Meyerdirk, a founding members of Uber Eats, who will join as a new outside director, pending approval from shareholders at a May 26 annual meeting. Facing a shrinking domestic market, the company said this month that it would seek growth overseas, particularly in North America, and would also expand online shopping and delivery services in Japan.

Did you know ...? Over half of Italians (54%) – 18% significantly, and 36% moderately – have increased their consumption of frozen food since 2020, according to a new study. A report prepared by the Italian Institute of Frozen Foods (IIAS) with BVA Doxa indicates that the trend is more pronounced in the south than in the north of Italy, and among young people and families with young children.
