Did you know ...? Target Corp posted a surprise rise in holiday quarter sales on Tuesday, buoyed by an increase in store traffic from discount-hungry Americans, even as it joined other retailers to caution on 2023 earnings due to an uncertain US economy, reports Reuters. Shares rose about 5% in pre-market trading, as it beat quarterly profit estimates for the first time in a year.

Did you know ...? Delhaize Belgium has opened 50 autonomous stores since opening its first outlet in this format at the end of February 2022. Delhaize Belgium and Selecta now plan to double the number of stores in this format in the next 12 months, reports ESMmagazine.com. “With the 50 branches we have already opened since the start of the project – exactly one year ago now – we are perfectly on track to achieve this ambition,” said Xavier Piesvaux, CEO of Delhaize Belgium.

India’s rapeseed production could remain steady in 2023, despite a record planting, as yields were curtailed by frost and a heatwave in key producing areas, farmers and industry officials told Reuters. Lower-than-expected rapeseed production could force India – the world’s biggest importer of vegetable oils – to increase expensive overseas purchases of cooking oils, such as palm, soybean and sunflower oil, to fulfil rising demand.
