Dunnes Stores To Launch Online Food Shopping Service: Reports

Two years after it launched online sales for its homewares and clothing lines, Irish supermarket chain Dunnes Stores is reportedly set to launch an online food shopping service.

According to this morning's Irish Independent newspaper, Dunnes is currently hiring a number of 'key executives' to man the project, including an online logistics manager responsible for managing delivery trucks.

However, the newspaper said that the retailer has not yet earmarked a launch date for the service.

Dunnes online clothing operation has developed significantly since launching in 2013, and now features tie-ups with golfer Padraig Harrington, designer Paul Costelloe and others.

The service also offers free delivery on all orders over €50, which if rolled out in the grocery channel would certainly be a game changer for the nascent online industry in Ireland.
