Ireland’s recently retired rugby captain Johnny Sexton is taking on a coaching role as part of Mace’s Right Options campaign for 2024 to help promote a healthy lifestyle.

The campaign aims to promote healthy eating, physical exercise and positive mental health in communities around the country.

Sexton’s role as the coach will involve a series of initiatives aimed at encouraging members of the public to make the best choices for themselves and their families, including fuelling in advance of exercise and staying active.

Speaking about the campaign, Sexton said “As a parent, I’m passionate about encouraging children and families to lead active and healthy lifestyles.

"Since I’m only recently finished playing professional sport, this is one way for me to help support the Irish public in making more positive choices for the benefit of their physical and mental health.”

The initiative involves a comprehensive awareness campaign in store and online to highlight the healthier food and drink options available in Mace stores.

The announcement of Sexton’s involvement in the campaign coincides with people setting new goals for 2024 and assessing their choices in leading a healthy lifestyle.

The sales director for Mace, Keith Crawford, said of the campaign, “Our customers will soon see the new Right Options guidance in their local Mace store highlighting the healthier food and drink options available, and I think they’ll really enjoy the series of video features with Johnny, including advice on choosing the right options for the benefit of our physical and mental health.”

Johnny Sexton has been a Mace Brand Ambassador since 2018.
