Health and wellbeing is a big focus for SPAR, having just launched our Better Choices initiative last year and we believe the Spar FitLive Series is another great initiative for families because it helps to promote a healthy lifestyle in the home and community. We’ve very proud to be a part of this new venture in association with the Irish Independent.”
It is calling on families 'who want to improve their fitness' to take part in an eight week programme by registering at Fitlive.ie.
Derval O'Rourke said: “The FitLive programme is perfect for those who want to improve their fitness levels, overhaul a poor diet, boost their mood or reach a specific goal over a two month period. From winning at the highest level in my sport, I know all too well of the importance of eating a wholesome meal. The food and recipes will fuel both your training and taste buds.”
The programme which starts on 22 May will be followed by the Spar FitLive series, comprising both a 5km and 10km run in the Phoenix Park on 15 July.
Karl Henry added: “Spring is the perfect time to think about getting more active and improving your fitness levels, with longer evenings and warmer weather. Whether you’re a regular runner or more of a couch potato, the Spar FitLive series programme will provide all the motivation needed to get on the trainers and start moving more. It’s vital to have a goal to work towards and the Spar FitLive series race in July is something to work towards.”
