Lidl Continues Expansion With New Dublin Openings

Lidl has announced two new stores in its portfolio, with the opening of an outlet in Ballycullen last Thursday and a Terenure outlet scheduled to open this coming Thursday, 12 December.

The new openings bring the total number of Lidl stores in the Republic to 138. In a statement, the retailer said that it received 'well over 200 applications' for the 40 permanent roles at the two stores.

Last year, several locals had declared their opposition to the Terenure store, which is located on the former Sunday World site at Rathfarnham Road and Beechlawn Way.

Dublin City Council granted permission for the store subject to a number of conditions, including external signage, water requirements, archaeological requirements and drainage.

As well as announce the new stores, Lidl also unveiled a new toy range, launched on the Late Late Toy Show, which have gone on sale in its stores nationwide. Among the toys offered is a 'GoClever' tablet computer aimed at children, priced at €99.99.
