Lidl Ireland has announced the opening of its new store in Galway City, creating 24 new jobs.
The discounter said that it invested more than €8 million, in the Wellpark outlet.
The new store is bright and airy with a spacious interior layout, high ceilings and wide aisles 'creating a comfortable shopping experience' for customers, the discounter said.
530 convenient car park spaces are provided on site for the entire retail park, including reserved spaces for families and disabled shoppers, it added.
Damien Hanniffy, store manager Lidl Well park said: "We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new shoppers and settling into the local community over the coming weeks, months and years.”
'A Better Tomorrow'
As part of its 'A Better Tomorrow' corporate social responsibility programme and to mark the opening, Lidl Wellpark welcomed representatives from Galway Hospice to accept a donation of €1,000.
Lidl Wellpark shoppers will also have the chance to win their entire Christmas shop for €1 by purchasing a ticket to the retailer’s annual trolley dash in aid of their charity partner, Jigsaw, the retailer said.
Ladies Gaelic Football Association
As a supporter of women in sport through their partnership with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, Lidl is delighted to have TG4 All-Star winner, Nicola Ward, of the Galway ladies football squad, doing the honours of officially opening the store this morning.
Welcoming the new Lidl store, Nicola Ward, Galway LGFA Player commented: “The store is set to contribute positively to the locality and I am very much looking forward to having a Lidl store in the area and most importantly, in such a convenient location in Galway City.”
