RGDATA, IBEC, the National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN), the Convenience Stores and Newsagents Association (CSNA) and Retail Excellence Ireland are scheduled to make submissions before the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children later today, as part of its hearings on the Public Health (Standardised Packaging of Tobacco) Bill.
The groups will attend the hearings at 11.45am in Leinster House.
The Bill is aimed at introducing standardised packaging for all tobacco products, as well as the size and position of health warnings on cigarette packets.
Commenting on the proceedings yesterday afternoon, Committee Chairman, Jerry Buttimer TD said "Tomorrow we will continue our hearings on this Bill when we will hear from a number of health advocacy bodies and retail organisations on the various measures contained in the Heads of the Bill and members will also have an opportunity to raise any issues they may have.”
