RGDATA Unveils Pre-Budget Submission

RGDATA has called on the government to reintroduce the 4.25% Employers PRSI rate in the forthcoming Budget, in a bid to help retailers create 10,000 jobs in sector.

The RGDATA Pre-Budget 2015 submission, published earlier today, also calls for specific measures to aid town centre regeneration.

Commenting on its proposals, Tara Buckley, Director General, RGDATA, said: “The policies adopted by the Government in Budget 2015 will have a direct impact on the capacity of the SME sector to create employment, particularly in sectors of the economy that have suffered the brunt of recession.”

Other measures the group has put forward include measures to tackle the black market, the need to maintain the 9% VAT, confirmation that the current tobacco licensing system will remain unchanged and the introduction of a specific JobBridge Internship Scheme for the retail sector.

“The independent retail grocery sector is a key contributor to the national economy and has a disproportionately significant impact in local economies. This is nowhere more apparent than in the contribution made by the independent retail grocery sector on local employment,” said Buckley.
