XL Brand Confirms RTÉ Player’s 'Marty In The Shed' Series Sponsorship

XL Brand has been confirmed as the official sponsor of RTÉ Player’s new four part series 'Marty in the Shed', which sees the Gaelic Games correspondent Marty Morrissey broadcasting a talk-show from his garden shed in Co. Clare.

Commenting on the sponsorship, former “Supporting our communities is at the core of everything XL do and the format of this new RTE Player show, with Marty at that helm, reflects that brand ethos," said Paul Bealin, former GAA All-Ireland winner with Dublin and group head of sales XL.

"The four programme series will provide the people of Ireland some much needed light relief from the stresses associated with current COVID-19 lockdown."

The virtual chat show is broadcast exclusively on the RTÉ Player.

Each episode will have two-three interviews with Marty's friends from the world of sport, music and entertainment via video chat, as well as a musical performance.

“It’s certainly a bit different to be presenting a show from my Shed in my backyard in West Clare on the Wild Atlantic Way but here goes,” said show presenter, Marty Morrissey.

“I’m deeply honoured to be given this opportunity on the RTÉ Player as I meet new and old friends who will be joining me from all over Ireland, USA, UK & Spain as we all try to cope with this world pandemic," he added.

"We all need to stay safe right now and stay at home and hopefully we can bring a smile to your face for just a half an hour on RTÉ Player."

XL Network

Part of BWG Foods, the XL network of more than 250 community stores across the country provides employment to over 2,400 people and its independent retailers are part of the fabric of rural Ireland.

'The show is the perfect antidote to the current crisis and XL’s sponsorship is another example of how XL retailers are contributing positively during these challenging times,' the grocery retailer added.
