Siúcra has launched its ‘Home Sweet Home’ campaign by pledging €25,000 to Focus Ireland, with 5c from each sale of specially marked 1kg packs of granulated sugar going to the homelessness charity.
The funds will go towards supporting the national charity’s Preparation for Education, Training and Employment programme (PETE), which seeks to reduce the issue of homelessness through education.
Michelle Carroll, PETE programme co-ordinator, explained, “Homelessness is a barrier to education. The Preparation for Education, Training and Employment Programme aims to provide people with the skills and confidence to access mainstream education, training or employment so they can reach their full potential and plan for a more positive future.”
The ‘Home Sweet Home’ campaign marks Siúcra’s third year supporting Focus Ireland, and will allow up to 26 people to be educated through the PETE programme.
Speaking at the launch, Joanne McAllister of Siúcra commented, “This year, we have chosen to direct funds to the PETE programme as it works to break the cycle of homelessness through education and upskilling.”
“We hope that all of our customer’s will get on board and look out for the specially branded packs in store and support the fantastic work that Focus Ireland do,” she added.
